While they are a profoundly beautiful part of the human experience, rituals, celebrations, memorials, and blessings are not in fact a "magical" moment or a moment of "magic." In every celebration of life - be it a wedding or blessing of a relationship, a funeral or memorial, or baptism or infant dedication - I remind the gathered Beloved Community that the real "magic" has been happening in all the days, moments, and actions that have led up to the moment of ritualization, and will continue beyond it. We are in fact the creators of magic through our enduring promises of love, mutuality, respect, and support.
